The Coronado Cougars men’s soccer team dominated Las Vegas at home with a winning score of 8-0. This match took place on September 9 at 5:45 p.m. The Cougars were anticipating a hard game given Las Vegas has a competitive soccer team, but we were still able to dominate adding to our winning streak making it 11.
Making the scores even, the Cougars scored 4 goals in the first half and 4 more in the second. Gavin Flickinger, 12, was an outstanding player in this game getting 3 assists, 3 goals, and scoring 9 points.
“It was a good game for us playing ranked number two in the state, we work hard at practice and stay focused and hopefully it will propel us to keep the wins going for the rest of the season.” Flickinger said.
Overwhelming the Las Vegas soccer team, there was a large margin in the score. Goal keeper Logan Pierce did not let a single shot get past him. Dylan Flores got 4 goals and 1 assist on Tuesday helping out the team. Gavin Flickinger is leading in the amount of assists for the team averaging 3.1 per game.
“Our mindset coming into the game was that we need to be our best playing this opponent and we need to play together and work hard for each other on the field. The main goal this season is to work hard and get closer to winning another state championship.” Flickinger said.
The Coronado Cougars are playing another game on Monday, September 15 at 5:45 p.m. against Sierra Vista. Our odds are high, so it will be super exciting to see. Hoping to add to our streak, the Coronado soccer team is on the road to victory.
