Coronado vs. Arbor View

Senior Night! // Swimming in some of their final meets, many seniors who are part of the Women’s Swim Team at Coronado have a season coming to a close. On April 25th, they celebrated some of their final moments being part of this amazing community. (Photo Courtesy of Christina Potts)

On Saturday, April 25th, the Coronado Women’s Swim Team competed at the Henderson Multigenerational against Arbor View High School. There, Coronado made yet another landslide victory with a score of 219-65. Along with their incredible score, Coronado got to celebrate Senior Night for their soon-to-be graduating Swim Team members.

Having been Senior Night, it made for an emotional moment for many of the Class of 2026 members. This night marked one of the final swim meets for many of the members who have been swimming since their early childhood years. While a celebration, it was a bittersweet moment of leaving something behind and starting a new chapter, especially for Senior Kirra Fenton.

Senior recognition was really emotional because I have been swimming for 12 years so knowing my career is coming to end quicker than I realized,” Fenton explained. “It was also emotional seeing all the people I have grown up with, my parents, Coach Potts, and my best friends' parents knowing I won’t get to see them everyday.”

For team members who have grown up swimming, this can be an emotional goodbye to an incredible team, but despite this, they were still able to not only win the meet because of their skills, but because of the bonds within the team. They continue to uphold their reputation of being first in the state with their scores, but inside, they continue to uphold their even higher reputation of good character, leadership, and teamwork.

I would say our biggest strength is the community we have built throughout the years,” Kenton explained. “At the meet we had alumni, parents currently and of alumni, and other students come out and support us which was really amazing.”

Along with reminiscing about this past season, many of the members, especially the seniors are looking forward to competing in some of their post-season final meets. This past Tuesday on May 5th, they competed in their Regional Preliminary Meet. However, as they move forward, this coming Saturday on May 7th they will be competing again for their Finals at the Pavilion. With our support and the strength of their team, there is no doubt that they will be diving into success as the season comes to a close.
