Coronado Cougar Women’s Tennis v. Desert Oasis Diamondbacks

On August 19, 2025, at 3 pm, our Coronado Women’s Tennis Team had their first home match of the season against Desert Oasis with a smashing win of 16-2. What a great start to the season!

With a new season, and being back from the summer, the Tennis team worked hard to ensure an amazing start to this season. They started off their season with a bang securing a first game victory. The women’s tennis team put their hard work and endurance on the court whether they played doubles or singles. 

“The first game was super fun,” Senior, Austyn Willingham said. “Everyone had butterflies at the beginning but after warming up, we knew we would go out on the courts and perform.” 

These women definitely left it all out on the Court. Besides putting an immense amount of effort during practice at school, they made sure they were ready for the season by sharpening their skills  over the summer.

“Over the summer, I practiced nearly everyday to prepare for the season,” Willingham said.

Teamwork is also super important, and the women’s tennis team really show their Cougar Spirit out on the court. They all became family, and some actually are family, which helped strengthen their bond making it easier  for them to lift each other up, and to better themselves. 

“My dad is actually the coach so it’s alright seeing him in the courts too, but the team is always a blast to be around,” Willingham said. “I got to play with two of my friends and it’s always fun to win a point, and then celebrate.”

It is such an amazing sport to play, and an even better sport to watch. On August 21, 2025, show your school spirit and support the girls where they are at their first away game of the season, facing the Desert Pine Jaguars. Us Cougars got the advantage from a great win, so make sure you are in the stands cheering them on, and the guys too.
