Play Ball // Sparking a dominant performance, Coronado shut out Cheyenne 15–0 at home. Fueled by big innings and flawless defense, the Cougars celebrated their seniors with a statement win.
The Coronado baseball team played a home game against Cheyenne High School on senior night, finishing with a dominant 15–0 win. The Cougars came into the game energized, with the atmosphere of senior night giving them extra motivation from the very start.
“The start of the game, as it was senior night, really made us want to win this game,” Junior Mariano Rodriguez said.
That early energy showed immediately, as Coronado took control with strong hitting and consistent scoring. The team built momentum inning after inning, never letting Cheyenne settle into the game.
“We had plenty of big innings as we got a lot of runs in all of the innings and then we had amazing defense not making terrible errors,” Rodriguez added.
Coronado’s offense stayed aggressive throughout, while their defense backed it up with clean, mistake-free play. Even with a comfortable lead, the team remained focused and didn’t let up.
Their ability to stay locked in on both sides of the ball allowed them to close out the game quickly and confidently. With the 15–0 victory, the Cougars not only celebrated their seniors but also continued to build momentum as the season progresses.
