The Coronado Cross Country Team is on a fiery streak of wins from the 2025 season. The Cougars can’t stop giving the other teams a hard time On September 18th, 2025, Coronado was one of seven teams to compete at the Arbor View Weekday meet.

The total distance of the race was 3k, which is approximately 1.86 miles across the board for all teams. The race was at Floyd Lamb Park and was scenic–with the course around the two lakes at the park. There were 2 races at the meet, the boys and girls. Of course, Coronado couldn’t miss any of the action. In the boys race, Coronado won, defeating over 5 teams. In the girls race, it was a head to head battle, but ultimately the girls placed second. Despite this, Brooke-Lynn Miller still placed first in the race. However, just running the race is half the battle, no matter what the distance is.

Miller stated, “Honestly the distance does matter to me for each race because then my pacing and strategy changes. Other than that, the goal is the same and that is to push myself and challenge myself mentally. Also, I feel the distance of the race affects you the same mentally, because when you’re racing and pushing yourself, your body is trying to tell you to shut it down. Once you do, you’d be amazed at what you can accomplish.

It’s important to recognize no matter what the distance is, it takes great mental fortitude to run, and it takes strength, courage and determination to push beyond limits.

“I hope that our varsity team and JV team will win each of their races. We’re enrolled in four total so the main goal is to win and hopefully some kids will run their fastest times yet. I’m looking forward to running the course since we’ve never been to this meet before. I’m also excited to race and see what I can do.” Miller said.

The Coronado Cross Country team is just warming up. On Saturday, September 20th, the Cougars will travel all the way to Peach Springs, Arizona for the Music Mountain meet.
