The Coronado women’s basketball team is dribbling into action. This past weekend, on January 10th, 2026, the Lady Cougars won a home conference game against the Lady Patriots in a neck-and-neck, tight score of 46-43, ultimately scoring a home victory.

In the first quarter, Coronado absolutely dominated the round, 16-6; however, it didn’t take long for Liberty to keep up the intense game and catch up by the third quarter, Luckily, the Cougars set them straight by fourth quarter, winning by an ultimate extra three points.

According to junior varsity player Kaitlyn Forcier, “The execution of our plan heading into the game had been achieved in the first quarter, and that we had to continue with the momentum for the remainder of the game.”

Basketball in the sports world is a physically demanding and versatile game. A team member could be doing a multitude of things depending if they’re on defense or the offensive side. Ensuring that the other team, no matter how competitive, ensures a victory. This is the case when the Cougars jumped the shot and secured the game for Coronado. However, the only way to maintain the glory is practicing.

Forcier elaborates, “Practicing had been an essential part to this victory, as we had been able to implement different options and aspects of our offensive sets into the game, which led to a variety of open shots.”

The Coronado Lady Cougars have a long set of wins ahead of them this season. Make sure to support the team and see a layup in action during their away game at Centennial High School on January 14th, starting at 6:30pm.

“For our next game, we are planning to continue with this momentum. We are also working to push not only ourselves, but each other and continue to put our trust into each other.” Forcier states.
