The Coronado Cougars women’s volleyball team dominated Shadow Ridge 3-0 at home on Thursday, September 7 at 6:00 p.m., with an outstanding performance by Nakisa Friedman. The Cougars took the lead and were able to shut Shadow Ridge out winning all three sets. The first set Coronado led 25-14, second set, 25-18, and third set 25-22.

It was the seventh game of the season, and they have been starting the season off positively, making their win streak even longer. Sophomore Jamie Beckham was able to get 11 digs in her game with the varsity team, showing competitive efforts in this fall season.

“I think this team has a really good chemistry because we all are very competitive and we all have the same end goal of winning state,” Beckham said. “We work really hard to be able to meet that goal every day at practice and work hard for each other.”

Coronado is now ranked fourth in Nevada, because of their outstanding efforts. Friedman was on fire getting 13 digs and five assists. Her performance boosted the momentum for everybody else making everyone contribute well to this game. This team achieved lots in this volleyball game by helping each other, and working together.

“It’s important to me to be able to show leadership in an underappreciated sport because I think volleyball is really growing, and to be able to represent volleyball at our school especially is really cool,” Beckham said. “It is super fun to be able to play with such an incredible team.”

The Coronado Cougars are playing yet another exciting game on Tuesday, September 9 at 6:00 p.m. as they go on the road to face Foothill. Hoping for another win, the volleyball team seems to promise another competitive match showing their best efforts.
