Tennis beats Foothill

On Tuesday, August 25th The Coronado Cougars tennis team took on Foothill at home in a non-league match and won. The boys team won 16-2 and the girls 11-7. Really impressive performance from both teams.

“I felt great playing against Foothill and I'm glad to keep my 21 win and zero loss streak alive,” junior, Tyler Lin said.

With all the time and effort put in by the players, the girls team is looking to defend their state title. While the boys are working hard to win it this year after just falling short the past two years. The tennis team looked great out there and showed how they could work together as a team by supporting each other after all of the points. 

“I focused on hitting deep forehands cross court to put my opponents into a defensive spot,” stated Sidney Ghenassia, 10. “I also used a lot of kick serves out wide to pull my opponent out of the court, and it really help me win the deciding points”

The shots they have been practicing translated into the match, helping them win important points. Overall, both teams look great and focused in hopes to win the state championship in October. Go support your Cougars at their next home match on Wednesday September 9th, against Clark High School!
