On Wednesday, October 21, 2026, Coronado’s varsity women’s soccer team took on Liberty High School on their home field. After a loss on the 19th to Gorman, the girls took the game back with a win. The final score was 2-0.

Every player did fantastic, but there were certainly standouts on the field. Taylor Takahashi, 11, scored one goal and both points, while Alyssa Ramirez, 11, and Jordyn Gogna, 12, each had an assist. Takahashi explains how it felt to score the goal that started.

“It felt really good yo score a goal,” Takahashi said. “Especially because it was the first goal of the game and put us into the lead.”

Despite the outstanding win last Wednesday, the team still has more work to do. Their season is far from over as the girls move on to playoffs. Currently, the Lady Cougars are ranked sixth in Nevada and fifth in their league with an overall record of 9-6-4. When asked what the team was working on to help progress their season, Takahashi brought an answer.

“What we’re doing to prepare for playoffs is getting our set plays ready and knowing what we’re gonna do to win against Centennial,” Takahashi explained. “We’re also practicing our press and going into it ready to fight and win to move on to the next round.”

All this to say, Coronado’s varsity girls soccer team has had a wonderful season, and it is not over yet. The Cougars will continue their fight on October 28 at 6:00 p.m. away against Centennial High School. If you encounter any of the players, make sure to wish them luck as they head into the playoffs. Let’s go, Cougs!
