Coronado’s men’s soccer team faced Desert Oasis High School at home on October 19 at 4:30 p.m., winning with a score of 2-0, continuing their win streak.

Our Coronado men’s soccer team takes home another win to hold their first place spot in the 5A Southern Desert League. This is a spot that they have held for four straight years, a very impressive milestone in the competitive soccer atmosphere in Southern Nevada. Senior Amun Hagos explains the team chemistry behind this triumph.

“It feels deserved and it brings together our team more, but not get too ahead of ourselves,” Hagos said.

With this win, they are placed first in the state of Nevada as well, making them a top contender for a fourth consecutive state championship. An accomplishment that Coronado prides itself on. But in order to get where they are now, it took long days at practice, full of hard work and effort.

“Our practices challenge all of our abilities and push us to be our best,” Hagos said. “They are tough, but without them we wouldn’t hold the position that we do now.”

As the season moves along, the team’s success is exciting for both fans and future players. With each game, the chance of winning another state championship feels more real, and the pressure to keep winning is definitely there. But the Cougars seem ready to take on anything that comes their way. If they keep up this streak, there’s a good chance they’ll head to state for the fourth year in a row. Come out to their last League game against Liberty on Tuesday, October 20, at 4:30 p.m. to understand why they have the 1st place spot.
