Coronado’s women soccer team faced Liberty High School at home on September 28 at 4:30 p.m., falling short 0-1.
The Cougars came into the game ready to compete, battling Liberty throughout the match. Both teams worked to create scoring opportunities, but Liberty was ultimately able to find the back of the net and hold onto its lead. Despite trailing, Coronado continued to fight and put pressure on Liberty’s defense. Senior Megan Meusy talked about the team’s performance and the energy on the field.
“The energy was definitely there, and we kept pushing even after they scored. We didn’t let the goal change how we played, and everyone continued to encourage each other,” Meusy said.
Although the Cougars were unable to secure the win, the close score showed the team’s ability to stay competitive until the final whistle. The players continued to work together and remained determined despite falling behind. Meusy also reflected on what the team can take away from the match moving forward.
“Even though we didn’t get the result we wanted, I think we learned a lot from this game. We know what we need to work on, and we’re going to use this game to get better for our next one,” Meusy said.
With the season continuing, Coronado’s women soccer team will look to use this game as motivation for its upcoming matches. Be sure to come out and support the Cougars for their next game on September 30 4:30 p.m.
