On Friday, April 3rd, the Coronado track and field team traveled to Trabuco Hills, California to compete in the Trabuco Hills Invitational. At this meet, over 80 Coronado athletes had the opportunity to compete with some of the top Californian schools, and show off their hard work.
“Traveling to a meet outside of Vegas was a great experience,” sophomore Jane McGuire said. “I got to run in very competitive races and push myself alongside my teammates.”
When the track team goes to big invitationals it gives the athletes a chance to bond and become a closer team so they can support each other. In Trabuco Hills, these athletes displayed their best performances, breaking five school records and many personal bests.
“Over the course of the season I have really been able to grow and improve my times by getting more comfortable being uncomfortable,” McGuire explained. “I’ve seen the same thing in my teammates as we push each other each time."
With the regular track season being over half way done, the cougars are working hard to train and improve their times and marks in order to regional and state qualify post-season. The next track and field meet will take place on Friday, April 17th at Silverado high school. Be sure to go support the runners for one of the last regular season meets of the year!
