Senior Spotlight: Kirra Fenton

Throughout her 4 years at Coronado, Senior Kirra Fenton excelled not only in the classroom maintaining a 4.927 GPA, but also in the pool, competing for high school and club teams. Kirra has challenged herself with AP and Dual Enrollment classes that have taught her many lessons that she will use for the rest of her life.

“I take pride in my academics as it shows my dedication,” Fenton said. “These skills and lessons have translated to my swimming, where I have learned that the people you surround yourself with are extremely important and can change your life, for the better or worse.” 

Kirra first started swimming at 6 years old and has continued to compete in the sport throughout high school. One of the biggest opportunities she has had through swimming was being about to swim at State her Freshman year.

“At this time during my Freshman year, I was dealing with issues with my club team and coach,” Fenton said. “That opportunity proved to me that the time I have spent swimming was worth it and that I need to keep doing what I love, even if others are trying to stop me.”

Additionally, Kirra has spent her time displaying leadership and communication skills as the captain of the swim team, as well as a photo editor for Coronado Yearbook. Through her participation in various activities, extracurriculars, and academics, she has learned to stay present and experience the moments of her high school career.

“The biggest piece of advice I have for incoming high schoolers is to be yourself truly,” Fenton said. “This is supposed to be a time to have fun and prepare for the future, so set yourself up for success and stay true to yourself.”

After high school, Kirra plans to attend Northern Arizona University to study Hotel and Restaurant Management. After college, Fenton plans to move back to Las Vegas for future job opportunities.

“During these years, I will specialize in International Tourism Management and Event Planning,” Fenton explains. “I want to build a strong foundation for my future career.”

If there’s anything that Kirra Fenton has embodied over these last four years, it is her determination, motivation, and ability to balance her student-athlete lifestyle. Kirra was able to excel in the classroom with high grades while taking rigorous courses, while also pursuing her passion for swimming. In addition to this, she was able to keep a balanced life, enjoying activities like yearbook and spending time with family and friends, while setting herself up for a successful future, to attend Northern Arizona University. There is no doubt that as she leaves here at Coronado, while she will be missed, she will be diving into nothing less than a bright future ahead.
