On March 20th, 2026, movie theaters prepared to finally release the second edition of the 2019 Ready or Not movie: Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. This incredible sequel features the same main character, but with a fun new twist to the game she thought she ended in the first movie. According to IMDb, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come has a 7.0/10 star rating with around 10 thousand reviews, most applauding the well-made continuation of the first movie, with one comment reading, “It’s intense, entertaining, and filled with strong performances, making it a worthy follow-up that fans of the first film will definitely enjoy.” As many cinema lovers may know, it can be hard for producers and writers to create a sequel that lives up to the first, yet Ready or Not 2: Here I Come was an absolutely fantastic addition that didn’t ruin the vibe, story, or plot of the first movie, which can be hard to come by. So, what made this movie so entertaining and fun to watch, and what happened in it?

**WARNING: WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS

Ready or Not (2019)

Well, the second movie can’t be explained without talking about the first one and how it ended. Ready or Not focuses on a young woman named Grace (amara Weaving) who is about to be the bride of Alex le Domas (Mark O’Brien), who is part of an insanely wealthy family. After getting happily married, it’s revealed that the le Domas family has a weird tradition that must take place after a generation of the family gets married. This tradition involves all types of well-known games, like board games and card games, but there is one game that is just a little bit unfortunate if the new bride or groom chooses it: Hide and Seek. Unfortunately, our bride, Grace, ends up randomly choosing it. This, of course, isn’t that surprising, as there would be no movie without this twist. Anyway, after randomly picking the card that says “hide and seek” on it, it seems pretty simple. Grace must hide until dawn the next day, and the Le Domas family must try to find her. However, the Le Domas family reveals their sick little twist to the game: they must try to find and kill her before dawn.

The whole plot of the movie follows Grace hiding, killing, and running for her life in order to not be caught and killed by her groom and in-laws. The movie features some incredible jump scares, brutal scenes, and, of course, some hilarious parts, which is what made it such an amazing watch. In the end, it is revealed by her groom that they had to try to kill her or else they would all die. Grace doesn’t believe it, but when dawn arrives, she witnesses the entire remaining family explode from their insides before her eyes. The movie ends with her shaken, smoking a cigarette in a bloody wedding dress, sitting in front of the burning Le Domas mansion.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (the sequel)

After that insane plot twist and ending, of course, the movie got an incredible amount of recognition and applause from the audience and critics. It seemed like that might’ve been the end of that story, but, of course, there was more to the story than the Le Domas family’s death. In the second movie, Grace is taken to a hospital, watched closely by the police who suspect she killed the entire Le Domas family. She’s met with her sister, Faith (Kathryn Newton), who, it seems, has a bad relationship with Grace. When Grace is taken to go to the station to ask questions about the crime scene, bullets and chaos ensue. A crazy, drug-induced man tries to shoot Grace, but, before that can happen, he also explodes before her eyes, just like her ex-in-laws. She and Faith are taken to a fancy hotel, and it’s revealed that the Le Domas family was not the only family with a crazy tendency to explode. Her in-laws were one of a small group of families who share the same fate, and are somehow the people who run the entire world. Since Grace won and stayed alive when dawn came, the leading family of the wealthy group of families must step down and recompete with all of the rest of the families to become the head of the group. As well, Grace is a part of that family feud, and she must play hide and seek for a second time. However, this time she’s playing with even more dangerous families out to kill her and her sister.

After that crazy plot twist, the movie follows the same nerve-wracking, but thrilling plot as the first: Grace and her sister try to avoid murder and stay alive until dawn as the families pursue them. However, it seems there are even more plot twists in this movie. When it looks like Grace and her sister might’ve almost lost, a new revelation is discovered: if Grace marries one of the crazy representatives from the high houses, he will automatically become the leader of them all, and she and her sister will remain alive. They agree, and Grace is set to get married again. However, after legally becoming married, Grace murders the insane guy and declares that she wants out of this weird and wild high house life, so she drops the ring declaring her the leader into a pit, and everyone jumps in to fight for it. They all explode as dawn comes, and Grace and Faith leave the scene, ready to be done with this insane story. The movie then ends there, as they walk out of the hotel, bloody and in ruinous outfits, similar to the ending of the first movie.

Final Review

There’s absolutely no doubt that this sequel was an incredible addition to the first one. The plot was not entirely the same, but it did have the same aspects, with Grace running and killing, and people trying to pursue her so they don’t explode. However, it was interesting to see new motives and ideas, like how the le Domas family was only part of a much larger group of rich families that share the same explosive fate. It was also interesting to see the new plot twists at the end, with Grace marrying and then killing one of the high house representatives in order to doom them all. Overall, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come was a super comedic, high-stakes, and action-based movie, with a very satisfying ending to the entire story, and was a great continuation of the first Ready or Not movie.
