McRibs are back!//Glowing in the sun, the McDonald’s sign is bringing controversy to the fast-food world. McRibs are deemed by society as falsely advertised and not what they truly thought they were. (Photo Courtesy of Creative Commons)
A lawsuit against McDonald's regarding the McRib was filed on December 23, 2025, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois by plantiffs Peter Le, Charles Lynch, Dorien Baker, and Derrick Wilson. Their allegations were that the meat did not contain any “actual pork rib meat.” McDonald’s believed this allegation to be a distortion of facts.
They specifically target the limited-time sandwich’s patty, as well as the construction of the, does not look the same as it does in advertising photos. The goal of the lawsuit was for McDonald’s to end the so-called deceptive marketing. McDonald’s responded to these plaintiffs by saying that it is 100% pork meat and that their claim is invalid. They also explained that they are committed to using fresh and quality ingredients in everything they serve.
The statements against the claim say that it shouldn’t be the most valuable item and that the false advertising should come to an end, but how do we know this claim is valid? Many may reason with the customer, as many people were never expecting it to be high-grade pork in the first place. This would make the argument that it is false advertising irrelevant, as it makes no difference in the end for the customer.
McDonald’s will not face charges for this lawsuit and has fully dismissed it and deemed it as meritless. Yet, the consumer may never know what is actually contained in the McRibs. Unless they get sued again and the lawsuit is successful, this limited-time item will stay on the menu.
