Coronado Cross Country 9/6 Brief

Coronado Cross Country is absolutely dominating Nevada’s high school running scene. The latest meet has only strengthened the team’s spot of the ambitious goal to win the state title this season. On Saturday, September 6, 2025, the Cougars raced against more than 40 teams this weekend at Sunset Park during the Larry Burgess-Las Vegas Invitational.

Out of so many teams, it is no surprise that Coronado took the win. Although cross country isn’t a black and white win with sports like tennis, each team is scored with points. The faster the time, the fewer the points, and the team with the least points wins in whichever division. In this race, Coronado won in the division of underclassmen (freshman and sophomore) girls, winning against 8 total teams. Additionally, school records have been broken, with senior Brooke-Lynn Miller having the fastest 5K time of the season so far – breaking multiple state records as well. The team, with a magnifying amount of people compared to last year, has worked hard this season. 

According to freshman athlete Ellie St. Pierre, “the long runs that we do and the sprints have helped with races.”

“I feel like the team could work on keeping each other accountable, so everyone has the best practices as possible.” St. Pierre said. 

Coronado’s cross country season has just started and there is a lot more in store for them. Don’t even hesitate to cheer them race in action this Saturday, September 13th at the Pirate Invitational at Clark County Fairgrounds in Moapa Valley.
