Meet senior Avery Camacho in the graduating class of 2026. Avery Camacho was not simply here to graduate, but during her time at Coronado, she excelled—in more ways than one. Between academics, clubs, and sports, Camacho stands out with her discipline to do her very best in whatever she sets her mind to. Through her high school career, she set herself up for success in every way.

During her time at Coronado, Avery Camacho did not shy away from being an academic weapon at school. She has taken a variety of rigorous AP courses which has contributed to her astonishing work ethic, determined personality, and overall intelligence to prepare her for what she will pursue in college.

“My favorite class was AP Research, but my favorite subject is math. However, despite math being my favorite subject, my hardest class was AP Calculus BC, because it required a lot of critical thinking to problem solve,” Camacho explained.

Moreover, throughout her time at Coronado, Avery received many awards and achievements including the AP Capstone Diploma, Math Department Student of the Month, and the American Legion Award. Beyond her academic accomplishments, Camacho has also learned lessons that go beyond the classroom.

Avery claimed throughout high school, one thing she learned is it doesn't matter what other people think of you, what matters is what you think of yourself!

In addition to her academics, Avery Camacho also took part in volleyball both at the school, being on the Cougars Varsity Volleyball team, and club volleyball at Next Level Volleyball Academy. For both school and club volleyball, Avery played and is still continuing to play the middle blocker position and right side position, with a strong presence on the court. She has received many volleyball awards, like the 2025 Salt Lake City National Qualifier Gold Division Runner-Up, 5A Girls Volleyball Nevada State and Regional Runner-Up, and various other high school tournament awards.

Not only was she academically talented, but she also created and took part in various clubs around the school campus. Camacho initiated two clubs: For Her and Home for Animals Club. For Her seeks to minimize period poverty, while, Home for Animals club encompasses finding homes for various animals that need them. In addition to leaving her mark behind on Coronado’s campus through these clubs, she has also created impact by participating in National Honor Society, Hope Means Nevada, Filipino Club, and Wishing Crane Club.

Besides her club involvement, Avery takes part in hobbies at home as well, such as baking and even making her already strong volleyball skills better. Avery describes her personality as grateful, happy, and balanced, which can clearly be seen through her many accomplishments.

Camacho explained, “I have so many favorite memories, and I don’t think I could choose just one. However, I am really going to miss driving with my best friends with our windows wide open, music blasting, and singing at the top of our lungs!”

Yet, with many accomplishments comes hardships. Avery explained her biggest challenge was losing a childhood friend. She worked to overcome this by moving forward, doing things that she enjoyed, and surrounding herself with people that she loved. This experience helped her grow by finding herself and learning to be vulnerable.

Moving forward, Avery is planning on majoring in neuroscience. In the future, she hopes to complete medical school to become a physician. Over the past four years, it has been the experience she’s gained, the dedication to her activities, her involvement within her school, and the way that she has challenged herself, that has positioned her for the very spot she is in right now. With all her accomplishments, she may seem like a triple threat, but at the core, Avery Camacho is the definition of a positive, hard-working teenager, who seeks to help out anyone and everyone in any way she can. As she leaves a legacy behind here at Coronado, there is no doubt that what awaits her is a bright future on the horizon.

Camacho described her high school experience as, “Amazing! I loved all the highs and lows. I learned so much… not only about academics, but also about myself,” and she discussed for the future, “I am excited to make new friends, but also to keep the old and develop those relationships.”
