With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, you may find yourself wondering what the point of celebrating is if you don’t have a partner. However, this heart-filled holiday isn’t just about enjoying your romantic partners, also your friends, family, and other loved ones. If you have anybody special in your life, they’re worth celebrating. Here are some fun, creative ways to make your friends and family feel particularly loved this Valentine’s Day.

  • Write them a sweet message

Whether it’s by text, email, or a handwritten letter, a simple way to spread the love on Valentine’s Day is by message. Making your friends, family, and partners feel special doesn’t have to be hard or take a long time. Taking just five minutes out of your day to shoot somebody a message or write somebody a letter can make their day, even their week, and make them feel loved and appreciated by you.

  • Craft something for them

From a simple drawing to an intricate photo collage, the possibilities are endless. Allow your creativity to shine as you create a handcrafted keepsake to display your love. You can even combine this idea with a handwritten message. Make your friends or family a Valentine’s Day card and write them a message straight from the heart on the inside. You don't have to be an artist either—even just the effort of making a project from scratch for someone can show them both your appreciation and your individuality.

  • Bake something for them

Good day or bad, a sweet treat never fails to make somebody smile. There are millions of recipes out there that are both easy, fun, and fulfill the acts of service love language. Everything from the simplest of treats, like Valentine’s themed muddy buddies, to the more difficult recipes, like Red velvet sugar cookies, are a way to show you care. Just like the previous idea, pairing a sweet note with your delicious baked goods will surely display love and admiration for your friends, family, or partner.

  • Make them a gift basket

If baking or crafting isn’t your specialty, go ahead and make a personalized gift basket for your loved one. While spending money isn’t at all necessary to make someone feel special, a few items to show that you appreciate those closest to you aren’t a bad idea. Their favorite candy, a cozy blanket, and a movie are the perfect gifts to ensure a fun day for your loved ones, and also show the way you are thinking of them. If you’re feeling extra loving, throw either a baked good or a special note in with it, and you have the perfect gift to spread your love.

  • Spend some quality time together

The simplest act of kindness you can give your loved ones to show your gratitude is quality time. Even if it’s just a five-minute conversation or a quick trip to a coffee shop, spending time together can make even the worst of days better. Plan a lunch date or a movie night and have some fun together. Take this time to give them a hug and let them know how much you love and appreciate them.

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be irrelevant if you don’t have a partner. There are so many easy, fun ways to show that you truly appreciate your friends and family and people you love—even if not taking the romantic approach, and these are just a few. There are countless ways to spread love. Be sure to take advantage of the upcoming holiday, and know that that same love can be spread during this day of love and beyond.
